Mulberries, dried, organic, raw, vegan
Mulberries have long been used medicinally in China, their native home although they have been grown in Europe for hundreds of years. Mulberries are also common in traditional and folk medicine, as well as the fresh fruit being used for wine and jam making.
These sun-dried white mulberries (Morus alba) from Turkey are a little bit crunchy, sweet and very nutritious. Each berry is packed with nutrients, especially iron, calcium, fibre and Vitamins C and K. They are also rich in antioxidants, especially the antioxidant resveratrol.
Resveratrol is a phytoalexin e.g. a natural antibiotic produced & used by plants to fight infection, attack from bacteria/fungi and combat environmental stresses. It is also found in the skin of red grapes and therefore in red wine, leading to the belief that red wine has health benefits. We like to get our antioxidants from foods and drinks that don't poison us.
Mulberries are great as a snack. Add them to cereals, trail mixes, and even raw chocolate recipes for a sweet fruity chocolate treat.
