What you need to know about tablets

Tablets are the choice delivery system of most supplement manufacturers because they are cheaper than capsules, and you can put about twice the amount of ingredients in the same approximate size. This is because tablets are compressed with thousands of pounds of pressure, and capsules are filled with all the ingredients free-flowing.

In youth, this may not be a significant factor since the digestive acids and enzymes are abundant enough to break-down these tablets. But as we age, the metabolism slows and there are not the same levels of secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and the pancreas does not produce enzymes at the same level of efficiency.

Over the approximate age of 40, if you are not chewing your tablets, the odds of your digestive system breaking them down and delivering them in a form necessary for absorption into the blood system is quite remote. And, unless you are one out of a thousand, you probably don't chew your tablets.

It is appalling all the 1000mg calcium tablets that are being sold to women. There is no way you can make a tablet containing 1000mg of calcium without compressing it so much that the digestive metabolism of a 65 year old lady can break it down. This in Harmonic Innerprize's opinion is nothing more than white-collar crimes against humanity.

Why isn't this product vegan?

The D3 is from sheep's wool. The process is synthesised to the extent that it is not considered an animal product by the manufacturers. Vitamin D is one of those nutrients where there are limited choices. The other option ergocalciferol is processed from plant fibre through radiation. So, the choice is a synthesation from wool or an irradiated product. Our manufacturer's choice was to avoid radiation.
