Sun-dried Rhassoul Clay Face Pack
Sourced from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, rhassoul clay has been used for hundreds of years as a natural beautifier.
Rhassoul is a light brown clay with wonderful exfoliating, cleansing and detoxifying properties. It has a remarkable ability to draw out excess oils and impurities from deep within the skin thanks to its high levels of “ion exchange”.
Rhassoul is also highly nourishing for the skin, thanks to its high mineral content and unique composition, including silica, magnesium, potassium and calcium.
Because rhassoul clay has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-microbial and antiseptic qualities, it is a great skin cleanser and can be use daily as a face wash. The regular use of rhassoul clay may also help to improve the appearance of skin troubled by eczema, psoriasis, acne and rosacea.
Studies have shown that rhassoul helps to:
- improve skin texture
- reduce dryness and flakiness
- improve skin elasticity and firmness, and
- remove dead skin layers, therefore leaving the skin nice and smooth.

Rhassoul clay is also incredibly versatile. Besides using it as a face mask, rhassoul can be used as soap, skin conditioner, shampoo and body mask. It washes like soap and leaves a unique, sweet scent on the skin. Please note however, that we do not recommend the use of rhassoul as a shampoo if your hair is sensitive.
Because of its amazing qualities, it is not surprising that rhassoul clay is used by prestigious spas and loved by people from all over the world.
Directions for use:
a) As a face / body mask: Blend one to two teaspoons of rhassoul clay and enough water (or floral water) to make a creamy face mask. Wash face with warm water and apply the mask. Do not let the mask dry out. Applying a moistened cloth or sponge over face to keep the mask damp. Leave for about 5 to 10 minutes (but no longer than that). If the skin looks inflamed after first application, don’t worry, this is just a detox symptom and a good sign! Apply the mask once a week.
b) As a shampoo /conditioner: Use 20-50g for short hair, or 50-100g for long hair and luxury treatments. Depending on your hair type, you can add up to one teaspoon of rosehip or olive oil to the mixture if you want, in order to improve the conditioning of the hair . The consistency of the mixture should be slightly more liquid than shampoo for everyday washing, or similar to shampoo for hair masks.
Please note that Rhassoul does not form a lather. It is the scalp which needs to be regularly cleaned. It is best not to rub the clay into the hair shaft - just leave the hair alone so that it remains tangle-free. For long hair, comb the Rhassoul along the shaft of the hair. Leave for a few minutes to work. Rinse thoroughly, massaging the scalp to ensure complete removal. If possible allow to dry naturally.
c) As a face / body wash: Mix one to two teaspoons of clay with water, to form a mixture similar in consistency to liquid soap. Apply the prepared clay to the wet face / body. Massage the area covered by clay for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

About Raw Gaia, by Raw Gaia
How it all started
For many years, we searched for a really good moisturizer, that would be made
with ingredients as fresh and as close to nature as possible and that would
be free from any chemical or toxic ingredients.
Unable to find anything suitable, we started experimenting in the kitchen and
making our own creams. Eventually we came up with what we believe is one of
the purest range of skin care products available.
What distinguishes Raw Gaia is that we use only 100% organic, raw and vegan
ingredients such as raw cocoa (cacao) butter, cold pressed oils and essential
oils. Importantly, our products are made following a process that avoids temperatures
beyond 40°C. In this way, the life force of the ingredients and all their
antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, etc., are retained. All these nutrients are
then available to nourish your skin, without leaving any surface residues.
The importance of raw
Simply put, the main benefit of a raw, living skin care product is that your
body nourishes from the existing life force of the ingredients. In contrast,
subjecting to high temperatures destroy most of this living energy.
Raw ingredients provide additional benefits to the skin through their:
Antioxidants: Antioxidants help to keep the skin supple and beautiful
by neutralizing free radicals. Free radical exposure eventually leads to hidden
inflammation and eventually, wrinkles and ageing skin.
Minerals: These occur naturally in our bodies and are found in our most
common foods. Sulphur for example is essential to make the skin soft and elastic
since it is an essential component of all connective tissues.
Vitamins: They are beneficial to damaged and distressed skin. Vitamin
C for example, is especially useful as an anti-wrinkle remedy for under-eyes
skin.
Omega 6 Fatty Acids: Present in oils such as primrose and borage seed
oils, they have been shown to gradually improve eczema and moisturize dry, cracking
and/or scaling skin.
What purity really means
Several leading alternative medicine practitioners and nutritionists suggest
that you should only apply on your skin what you would be willing to eat. The
reason behind this is that it will end up in the body tissues, either way.
Raw Gaias creams, lip balms and moisturisers are so pure that you could
in fact, eat them. (Weve done that ourselves as a test!) We dont
recommend you do that since they are not very palatable and the stomach may
not be used to it, but our skin care products are certainly safe to eat since
they are only made with raw, vegan and organic ingredients.
Evidently, our products do not contain any nasty petrochemicals, artificial
colourants and parfums, glycols, lauryl sulphates, parabens, preservatives,
synthetic additives, bulking agents or hidden ingredients. Because we avoid
any heat treatment, the oils in our products also do not contain any toxic transfatty
acids.
Raw Gaia's products are certified vegan by The Vegan Society. Our products
have not been tested on animals. In addition, we have carefully screened our
suppliers to ensure they do not carry out tests on animals either.
Important legal note: Though we are happy to provide
products and services which will help you to improve your health and well being, we do not 'treat', or aim to 'cure' any disease. Under UK law only a medical doctor may 'treat' illness and disease with a medical origin. The information in this web page is for information purposes only.
