- Organic & cold-pressed cocoa (cacao) butter: It helps to repair dry and damaged skin since it helps to regenerate skin cells and restore elasticity thanks to its high levels of antioxidants and minerals.
- Organic & cold-pressed coconut oil: It removes dead skin cells, which helps make the skin smoother and softer.
- Organic & cold-pressed red palm oil (sustainably harvested from Brazil): Rich in vitamin A and E, it is a great skin moisturiser and is also good for healing conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis
- Organic & cold-pressed olive oil: A useful source of vitamin E, olive oil is wonderfully soothing and moisturising. It helps take the heat out of sore or inflamed skin.

- Organic essential oil of tea tree: Highly effective against bacteria and useful for skin problems such as acne
- Organic essential oil of cedarwood: Good for oily and combination skin. It has a beautiful fragrance
- Organic essential oil of clary sage: Helps to regulate hormone imbalance and alleviating pre-menstrual and menopausal symptoms
- Organic essential oil of lemon: Great for improving circulation and skin tone, also a useful antiseptic
- Calendula flower extract: A traditional remedy for healing and soothing skin problems
- Please note that in order to make the soap, the oils need to be saponified by adding sodium hydroxide. There is a chemical reaction that changes the structure of the oil from a liquid into a solid bar. The sodium hydroxide is completely gone once the chemical transformation is finished, so there are no traces left.

How it all started
For many years, we searched for a really good moisturizer, that would be made
with ingredients as fresh and as close to nature as possible and that would
be free from any chemical or toxic ingredients.
Unable to find anything suitable, we started experimenting in the kitchen and
making our own creams. Eventually we came up with what we believe is one of
the purest range of skin care products available.
What distinguishes Raw Gaia is that we use only 100% organic, raw and vegan
ingredients such as raw cocoa (cacao) butter, cold pressed oils and essential
oils. Importantly, our products are made following a process that avoids temperatures
beyond 40°C. In this way, the life force of the ingredients and all their
antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, etc., are retained. All these nutrients are
then available to nourish your skin, without leaving any surface residues.
The importance of raw
Simply put, the main benefit of a raw, living skin care product is that your
body nourishes from the existing life force of the ingredients. In contrast,
subjecting to high temperatures destroy most of this living energy.
Raw ingredients provide additional benefits to the skin through their:
Antioxidants: Antioxidants help to keep the skin supple and beautiful
by neutralizing free radicals. Free radical exposure eventually leads to hidden
inflammation and eventually, wrinkles and ageing skin.
Minerals: These occur naturally in our bodies and are found in our most
common foods. Sulphur for example is essential to make the skin soft and elastic
since it is an essential component of all connective tissues.
Vitamins: They are beneficial to damaged and distressed skin. Vitamin
C for example, is especially useful as an anti-wrinkle remedy for under-eyes
skin.
Omega 6 Fatty Acids: Present in oils such as primrose and borage seed
oils, they have been shown to gradually improve eczema and moisturize dry, cracking
and/or scaling skin.
What purity really means
Several leading alternative medicine practitioners and nutritionists suggest
that you should only apply on your skin what you would be willing to eat. The
reason behind this is that it will end up in the body tissues, either way.
Raw Gaia’s creams, lip balms and moisturisers are so pure that you could
in fact, eat them. (We’ve done that ourselves as a test!) We don’t
recommend you do that since they are not very palatable and the stomach may
not be used to it, but our skin care products are certainly safe to eat since
they are only made with raw, vegan and organic ingredients.
Evidently, our products do not contain any nasty petrochemicals, artificial
colourants and parfums, glycols, lauryl sulphates, parabens, preservatives,
synthetic additives, bulking agents or hidden ingredients. Because we avoid
any heat treatment, the oils in our products also do not contain any toxic transfatty
acids.
Raw Gaia's products are certified vegan by The Vegan Society. Our products
have not been tested on animals. In addition, we have carefully screened our
suppliers to ensure they do not carry out tests on animals either.
