Organic hemp protein powder is a rich, creamy, slightly nutty flavoured superfood that’s loaded with beneficial nutrients including vitamins (in particular vitamin E), minerals (such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, platinum, phosphorus, sulphur, boron, nickel, germanium, tin, iodine, chromium, silver and lithium), vegetable protein, omega-3 fatty acids, a selection of trace elements, enzymes and lecithin, every essential amino acid, alpha, beta and gamma globulin, chlorophyll and the fatty acid GLA.
A particular favourite with high performance athletes and a valuable source of protein for vegetarians, vegans and rawfood enthusiasts, organic hemp protein powder can be stirred into all your favourite shakes, smoothies and juices. And, thanks to its wonderful velvety smooth texture, organic hemp protein powder is an ideal superfood ingredient in a variety of rawfood cakes and desserts such as our irresistible hemp protein and almond butter balls recipe below.
- 8 tbsp. of organic hemp protein powder
- 1/2 cup of raw whole almond butter
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil
- 100g of raw chocolate (we find that pure works best)
You’ll be glad to know that these melt-in-the-mouth hemp protein and almond butter balls are supremely easy to prepare. First gently melt the coconut oil on a low heat, set aside a few drops for later use, and then thoroughly mix in the almond butter. Add in the organic hemp protein powder and stir the mixture until it forms a soft dough. Next melt the raw chocolate in a separate pan and mix in the few remaining drops of coconut oil. Now shape the dough into round balls and place on some grease proof paper on a plate. Finally drizzle the melted raw chocolate liberally over the hemp protein and almond butter balls and then pop into the freezer to set for approx. 2 hours. Remove from the freezer and try and resist for at least 5 to10 minutes (in order to allow them to defrost slightly) before getting stuck straight in!
