Organic cacao beans are a powerful superfood extracted from the fruit of the cacao tree, a tropical plant native to Central and South America, where they were once so revered by the Mayans and Aztecs that they were used as a form of currency. Organic cacao beans are exceptionally pure – they contain almost no caffeine and are not roasted, which leaves them positively brimming with beneficial nutrients, such as vitamins (including vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, C & E), minerals (e.g. magnesium, calcium, chromium, sulphur, zinc, iron, copper, potassium and manganese), fibre, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. In fact, organic cacao beans are used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine and are regarded by many as one of the finest natural superfoods on our planet.
Once peeled, organic cacao beans make a delicious and incredibly nutritious snack straight from the bag and an extra special dessert topping when lightly crushed. In addition, organic cacao beans can be blended directly into all of your favourite chocolate based shakes, smoothies and protein drinks, and are an exceptionally popular superfood ingredient in all manner of rawfood recipes, such as tasty trail mixes, raw chocolate, cakes and desserts.
