Suggested Use

Shelled hemp seeds can be stirred directly into your favourite shakes, smoothies and protein drinks. They may also be scattered generously into soups and salads. Shelled hemp seeds can also be ground and used to create a mouth-watering range of gluten-free cakes and bread or delicious hemp milk. As hemp seeds absorb a substantial amount of liquid, it’s essential to drink plenty of fluids.

Origins

The hemp plant belongs to the mulberry family and is actually one of the oldest plants on our planet. It is believed to have originated in Central Asia and has been harnessed by a variety of cultures (including ancient Indians, Mesopotamians, Sumerians, Persians, Egyptians and indigenous tribes of Central America) for an assortment of uses since the Stone Age.

These shelled hemp seeds are derived from industrial hemp and unlike marijuana have virtually no psychoactive effects. 

Quantity and Dosage

Use 1-3 tablespoons (5-15 grams) of shelled hemp seeds daily. Store in a sealed container and in a cool, dry place. Once open, consume within 2 months.

• Shelled hemp seeds contain zero gluten and are therefore suitable for those on a gluten free diet
• Hemp seeds contain only a tiny amount (< than 1%) of THC, the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana in much larger quantities (15-20%)
• Hemp is also used to make textiles and paper. Indeed some of the world's most famous historical works are written on hemp paper.
• Hemp seed oil contains 54.4% linolenic acid (Omega-3), 18.3% linoleic acid (Omega-6), 2-5% gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and 1-2% stearidonic acid; and is one of only four oils to do so, it's the cheapest of the four, too.
• Hemp's ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 fatty acids is about 4:1 which mirrors the primitive diet the human race evolved on for 2.5 million years. This ratio of fatty acids is worth researching on the Internet. Due to UK law, we can't tell you more.
• There are over three million edible plants on our planet, and no other single plant source can compare with the nutritional value of hemp seeds. Both the complete protein and the essential oils contained in hemp seeds are in ideal ratios for human nutrition. 65% of the protein content is in the form of globulin edestin, so that it can actually be used by the body in its raw state, unlike that in soya beans, which have to be cooked or sprouted.

Hemp seed mylk - You can access the full nutritional impact of the hemp seed by following this simple recipe:

Soak one cup of hemp seeds for 24 hours in non-tap water with a few organic almonds
Drain, rinse and blend in a blender with about a pint of non-tap water
Strain through a cloth or sieve

This mylk is now ready to drink and should be consumed immediately, although it will keep for 48 hours refrigerated. It will combine well with all fruits and vegetables. You can make it thicker by using less water.
