Details

Honey is made from the nectar collected by honey bees and has been enjoyed by humans for at least 8000 years.

Our Spanish Forest honey is more specifically made from the nectar of Spanish oak and heather below temperatures of 40 C and thus boasts an exceptionally rich dark colour, a lovely floral aroma and an intensely sweet, balsamic-like flavour with just a hint of forest fruits.

It contains a variety of valuable nutrients too, including minerals such as iron, making it an incredibly wholesome alternative to refined sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Raw Honey Benefits

  • It has an exceptionally rich dark colour, a lovely floral aroma and an intensely sweet, balsamic-like flavour with just a hint of forest fruits.
  • Our honey is a delicious liquid honey that crystallises slowly.
  • It is a wholesome alternative to refined sugar or artificial sweeteners.
  • Our honey is suitable for those following a vegetarian or rawfood diet as it is processed at a maximum temperature of 40 C and the settlement period is less than 5 days.

How To Use Raw Honey

Honey is an irresistible addition to your favourite (herbal) teas, smoothies and desserts.

Do not heat, fry or boil, as some of the naturally occurring nutrients in this tempting honey might be lost. If your raw honey becomes crystallised, warm it gently in a bain-marie (up to 40 C).

Honey Facts

  • Honey is a powerful moisturiser that can be applied directly to skin and is often found in soaps and face creams.
  • Humans have enjoyed raw honey for at least 8000 years.
  • Honey was used to sweeten cakes and biscuits in ancient Egypt.
  • Almost a third of global farm output depends on animal pollination, largely by honey bees – indeed, Albert Einstein once said: "If bees disappear from the surface of the earth, man would have only four years left to live’.
  • Due to its unique composition and chemical properties, raw honey is suitable for long-term storage.
  • Bee products have been incredibly popular for centuries - indeed they were even attributed healing powers in the ancient Hindu writings of "Rig-Veda" from 2000-3000 BC.
  • Honey is made from the nectar collected by honeybees. Once safely back in their hive, bees begin to chew the nectar, adding large amounts of natural enzymes and converting it into simple sugars in the process. Next the bees spread the nectar over their honeycomb and cover it with beeswax. The nectar starts to thicken into a delicious honey, which serves as food for the entire bee colony, with plenty left over for us!

  • pooh bear loves honey

    Angela | 4/9/14

One of my favourite products. We mix it with tahini and stick it in raw dates for our honey treats. Once you have tasted what real honey should taste, feel and smell like, its really hard to go back to the boiled supermarket stuff. This honey makes me feel like POOH bear really does exist and this is definitely what he'd search for in the forest. My kids now refer to it as pooh bears honey, give me more of it they say. I know why, its fab.
